Finally Finished

Well, I have finally finished my big project for a friend. I have been working on this project for quite some time due to the inability to be satisfied with patterns I had found. This was a layette set for a new arrival. The mother is a Chief of Police for a town not too far from where I live. She is a wonderful woman and I wanted her new baby to have something very special. Therefore, it took me forever to find the right patterns. I made a bear blanket with a matching bear toy, a bottle warmer, booties, hat and onesy. They were made with Lion Brand's Pounder. The colors are mint green and white. I am very proud of the final product.

Unfortunately, no one told me she had had the baby by the time I delivered the gift to her office. I was sick that week with the flu and had a hard time finishing the project. It was completed by Wednesday, April 5, 2006. I delivered it to her office on Friday, April 7, 2006. I was not told that she delivered her baby on Wednesday, April 5, 2006. She was actually due on April 9, 2006, so I thought I had enough time to get it there. Oh, well. She loved the ensemble. That made me feel very good about myself. I showed the set to some of her employees, these were all males looking at the set, and they could not believe their eyes. They had a hard time believing that I made all of that. I was very proud of my work. The mother even told me that she was going to put her new son in the complete outfit and take pictures of him. I can't wait to see the pics. I have not seen the baby yet because of having had the flu. I am not sure that I am completely over it. But, enough of that whining.

I have moved into a house with some friends of mine. The other night I was looking for a particular pattern and happened to run across the pattern for the onesy. She fell in love with it and said she was going down to see her new grandson on Sunday, April 29, 2006. She asked if it was possible to make one in blue. I told her it was no problem. I found different kinds of blues and she decided she liked the verigated blue. I started that project late in the morning of Tuesday, April 25, 2006 and finished it by 5 p.m. the same day. I had other duties to perform during the time I was working on it; that is why it took so long. My friend thinks it is the cutest thing in the world. On this onesy I put little buttons that have anchors on it since we are talking about a boy. Doesn't anyone have girls anymore? I haven't been able to make anything pink in a long time. I guess I will have to do that for charity instead.

Since I had been working on the layette set, I have not been able to get to this blog or finish other projects. That is why I have not updated my blog for a long time. Still Plugging Away

I am still plugging away at the gifts I am making for a friend. I cannot say anything about them because I know she looks at the blog once in a while. I am hoping to get everything finished in early April. That doesn't give me much time at all. Anyway, I guess I had better get back to work since my deadline is fast approaching. Whew!!!

A Slump

I have read a lot about being in 'a slump' on one of my crochet groups. It is true, it happens to everyone at one point or another. I am currently in a slump. I have several projects currently in the works at this time, but every time I sit down to start working on one of them, I just feel like, why? And then I don't get much done. It is so frustrating. This is so unlike me. I have had this happen in the past a couple of times, but I am not much of one for slumps. Wow!!! I hope this ends pretty soon because I need to be able to work and feel good about my work. Don't get me wrong, I am getting my work done, it is just very difficult to tackle projects, but I have progressed. Thank heavens, the crochet projects are gifts for a friend, so there is no real pressure, but still... How many of you out there in cyberland go through this and how often? How does it make you feel? Do you accomplish the things that need to be done? Let me know about your experiences. Have a great day!!!

New Pictures Posted

I just wanted to take a minute to let everyone know that I have posted new pictures of more completed projects. I am currently working on several projects for a friend of mine. I cannot mention who or what the projects are because they are a surprise. I am rather anxious to complete one of the gifts in particular to see how it is going to look. This is a very detailed gift which is being created as I go. As soon as I finish the gift, I will post pictures of it on my Crochet Portfolio blog. I would also be interested in any of your opinions as to the pictures which are posted at www.crochetportfolio.blogspot.com. Another thought: If anyone has an issue or question about crochet that you would like to discuss on my blog, please let me know. Thanks.

Still finishing up Christmas gifts

Believe it or not, I still have one more Christmas gift to crochet. This one is going to be very intricate and detailed. It is my own creation and is for a very special person. Once I get this completed, I will begin working on my designs. I am looking forward to that.

I will also be adding the most recent pics of my work to my crochet portfolio soon. I know, I know, I keep saying that, but again, I have been very busy and have not had time to put them on my computer for uploading. However, I will say that the most recent picture displays the birthday gift I made for my daughter. She is a collector of angels, so I designed a CD angel for her. I could have and wished I had done a couple of things differently, but, the over-all effect was satisfactory. She loved it. Talk to you soon.

Creating Photo Albums

I have been busy attempting to create photo albums for all of my crochet photos. I am struggling with finding the most appropriate program to do this with. I have quite a few photos to show; however, the photos I have are not an example of all the work I have done. Of course, a good number of the projects I have completed over the years were done before these opportunities were available to us.

Way back when, I had a Polaroid camera with which I did take quite a few pictures. Most of those pictures are hidden in one of my storage units. Once I find them, I should be able to scan them into my system and upload them. At one time I had taken many photos of my work prior to selling or giving my projects away and the photos were stored on my hard drive. Well, true to form as computers can be, my hard drive crashed and I lost everything on my drive. The back-up I had, which I thought was good, had, in fact, been bad because of the condition of the hard drive. That was before I knew what a bad hard drive was like. So, I lost all those photos and, of course, the projects have long since been sold or given away. But, what photos I do have, I will be posting once I find the most appropriate program to use.

Busy, busy, busy!!! Well, the last few days have been really busy for me. I have been trying to catch up on my crochet. I still have a couple of Christmas presents for 2005 to finish and a birthday gift for early January to complete. Whew! Not to mention that I have clients who have needs for Automated Word Professionals. I am also house-sitting, so, basically I live out of two places at once. That gets confusing when it comes to what possessions of mine are where.

This weekend I got to have my oldest granddaughter over. She got a Cotton Candy machine for Christmas, so we both learned how to make cotton candy. It was pretty good. We both crocheted a bit. I taught her how to crochet a few months ago and she is doing quite well. I did some work on the computer while she looked at things for rabbits on the internet. We made a trip to my apartment to secure yet more things. We actually had quite a bit of fun. I like having the grandkids over, especially to this house because it actually has room to move. I'm not used to that.

Anyway, I have four grandchildren. The oldest two, my grandson and granddaughter, are my oldest son's children. They live relatively close by, so they come over about every other weekend. Then there are my two youngest granddaughters who are my daughter's children. My daughter and her children have not been to this house yet. They will not believe how much room there is to move. The oldest of the two girls hated to come and stay at my apartment because if you take a deep breath, you are going to break something. So now they will actually be able to play - if they ever come visit me up here. They live quite a ways away, so it is more difficult for them to get up here.

I have posted a few pictures of some of my crochet. One of the pictures shows my dog modeling his sweater-vest. His name is Zoey and he is two years old. He is a purebred toy Chihuahua. He is quite a character. I will go into some of his antics another time. I just wanted to mention before leaving for today, some of the pictures of the crochet are made from patterns of other crocheters and some are my own creations, noted by Copyright.
